Continuous Improvement Manager

Foxwood Recruitment have teamed up with an established industry heavyweight within textiles manufacturing in their search for a Continuous Improvement Manager for their Home Textiles Division. The successful candidate will report to the Site MD and Group Continuous Improvement Manager and hold overall responsibility for identifying and leading continuous improvement and efficiency projects within the Company: focussing on products, systems, operations and processes. This an excellent opportunity to genuinely influence operational procedure and workplace culture in a company with operational excellence embedded into its DNA.


What are the responsibilities?

  • Analyse current work practices to identify areas for improvement, whilst involving and educating employees in how to improve business and manufacturing processes.
  • Achieve agreed projects to drive headcount savings and cost reductions.
  • Perform workplace audits to streamline processes and introduce functional solutions to this end; identifying risks, issues and benefits of rolling out new ways of working to ensure alignment with business requirements.
  • Process mapping, value stream mapping, identifying inefficiencies in productivity.
  • Foster the growth of performance excellence behaviours within the business through coaching, mentoring, and training teams and championing performance excellence.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems, providing training and development of continuous improvement and Standard Operating Procedures in line with best practice.
  • Supporting operational and product change overs.
  • Collaborating with engineering and quality colleagues to lead, manage and track multiple cross-functional improvement projects to ensure successful completion.


What About Skills and Qualifications?

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • A recognised qualification or demonstrable experience in implementing Lean / 6 Sigma.
  • Experiences of Lean Manufacturing Principles in a manufacturing or similar environment including Lean, 6 Sigma and Kaizen
  • Previous experience and top-level understanding of all aspects of continuous improvement processes and methodology is essential.
  • Experience of factory design, layout, machine operation, facility process flow and continuous improvement.
  • Experience of work measurement and standard time setting techniques.
  • Professional communication skills are essential.
  • Exceptional ability to conceptualize large projects and foresee potential future challenges.
  • Capable of operating tactically in addition to supporting the focus and drive towards Operational Excellence.
